We had another round of great games today. Spartan Gold lost a 'rough' game against College Hill and won one against Andover White. Spartan Maroon won a well played game against Andover Blue. Spartan Chumash played well and split the day winning one against College Hill Orange and losing the other to Andover White.
Lacrosse is a physical game and it is easy to get caught up in the competition but all of us; coaches, players, and parents, need to remember that these are youth and we're not playing for a trophy here. It is difficult as parents and coaches when we see kids get intentionally hurt and nothing seems to happen. It is hard when we don't think the referees are making the correct calls or they miss a blatant cross-check to the neck of one of our players as he's out of bounds right in front of them and then threaten to eject the head coach when he tells the offending player to stop doing that,....(deep breath) but we all need to remember that we are all volunteers. We need to be thankful that we have volunteers willing to do this each week. It's great to see our logo and apparel everywhere on Saturdays but it also lets the officials know which team to go after. That being said, please do not engage the referees no matter how poorly we think they may be performing because our team can be flagged with unsportsmanlike conduct which will result in one of our players serving the penalty. As we've told the kids, right or wrong, the referees are the most powerful people on the field.
We didn't play Eliminator this week due to pictures.
I would like to thank Jorge Gonzalez, Jon Trujillo, and Matt Conaway for running the clock and keeping score for the first two games. We've been requested to have volunteers available at every game. If anyone else would like to volunteer, please let me know.
Thanks, again, for your support of your kids and our team!
Go Spartans!
